Illinois State Redbirds Hockey Welcomes Joey Zullo!

Illinois State Redbirds welcome Joey Zullo to the family!

Zullo, a 5′-9″ 161 lb. defenseman is a Chicago, IL native. He joins the Redbirds after a successful season with the Chicago Cougars!

Zullo chose ISU because “the school is close to home and being able to still play hockey at a competitive level really made me decide on ISU,”. He currently is a Business Analytics major. “My favorite coach was my father because he coached me from the start of my career until I was 14 and has taught me so many valuable lessons,” Zullo stated. Joey’s biggest supporter is his mom. Zullo said his favorite hockey memory was, “scoring my second goal of the game that was also a buzzer beater my senior year of high school to send the game to overtime.” Zullo is looking forward to making new friends in and out of hockey.

“We’re extremely excited to have Zullo joining Illinois State next year. He has been very productive for the Cougars and we are looking forward to seeing him compete with the rest of our defensemen!” – Coach Chris Prewitt.

Joey Zullo joins the Cougars pipeline with former teammates turned Redbirds including; Kevin Kost, Michael Lenhart, Mike Sliwinski, and Joe Gulino.
