Illinois State University Hockey Welcomes Mason Perri

Illinois State Redbirds welcome Mason Perri to the family! Perri, a 6′-1″ 181lb defensemen is a Rosemont, IL native. He joins the Redbirds after a successful season with the Midwest Blackbirds of the USPHL Premier division.

Perri chose ISU because it is close to home but still gives that going away feeling.  He intends to be an Criminal Justice major. His favorite coach was Liam Thrawl and his biggest supporter is his mom. “She is always there for me and is willing to help in any way possible.” Perri states. Perri’s favorite hockey memory is being able to play in the final four state playoffs for his high school, with half of my school attending.

Mason has been on our radar for a very long time.  He attended his first prospect camp after his Junior year of high school with the Leyden Eagles.  We continued to keep in contact with him as he developed with the Chicago Bruins CSDHL team and throughout his Junior career with the Chicago Cougars and the Midwest Blackbirds.  He is a leader and we love his compete level.  He will bring a strong presence to the defensive corps” – Coach Michael Hernbrott.
