Illinois State Hockey welcomes Ethan Latzke! The Bloomington native defensemen will be joining us for the 2025-26 season as he is finishing up his season with the Bloomington Thunder 18U squad.
Ethan chose to go to Illinois State because, “I grew up in Normal so I would always drive past ISU, and I knew that it would always be a college that I would want to go to.” He intends to major in horticulture and landscape management while at ISU. The defensemen from Normal is looking most forward to the culture while at ISU.When asked about his favorite coach, Ethan stated, “Matt Nagel because he helped me build my confidence to become the player I am.” Latzke credits that his biggest supporters are his parents. When asked about his biggest goal, Ethan said “when I walk three guys and went post and in to score.” The best hockey memory that Ethan has had was when he was accepted onto the Central States team in Pekin for the 2023-24 season.
Some other fun facts about Ethan Latzke:
If Ethan can be an animal, he would be a honey badger because they are just cool animals. Latzke has six siblings: three sisters Skylar, Kennedy and Sydney as well as three brothers Jack, Will and Alex. Ethan’s favorite food is chicken parm.
Ethan joins a long list of former Bloomington Youth hockey alumni to become Redbirds including Kason Yamada, Brendan Donovan, Michael Natoli, Hunter Dotson, Jaycob Bland, Sean Meyer, AJ Kowalczyk and Brock Brandenburg. He also joins his older brother D1 Assistant Coach Alex Latzke and his stepfather D1 Head Coach Chris Prewitt in the organization!
