ISU Hockey Welcomes Jack Mitchell!

Illinois State Hockey welcomes Jack Mitchell to the Redbird Family! The Morton, Illinois native forward will be joining us for the 2025-26 season as he is finishing up his season with the Peoria Mustangs in the NA3HL!

Jack chose to go to Illinois State because, “it was local and felt like home. I was also admitted into the school of business; honors program and earned a lot of scholarship money for my academics. I am also familiar with Coach Tompkins.” He intends to major in business administration or marketing communications while at ISU. Mitchell is looking forward to, “making new memories with teammates and friends. I am also excited to continue his hockey career playing for a highly touted program and coaching staff.”

When asked about his favorite coach, Jack stated, “Jean-Guy Trudel because he has taught me how to play the game the right way. Over the past couple years, I have made tremendous steps in my hockey career because of Coach Trudel.” Mitchell credits that his biggest supporter is his family, “without all of the countless hours driven and time spent at hockey rinks, it would have never been possible for me to get.” When asked about his biggest goal, Jack said it was a short-handed goal against the Wausau Cyclones to tie the game in the opening weekend of the NA3HL season. The best hockey memory that Mitchell has had was beating the CSDHL Hawks in overtime in the state playoffs when he was 14.
