Illinois State Hockey welcomes Skyler Tompkins to the Redbird Family! The Normal, IL native forward will be joining us for the 2025-26 season from the Peoria Mustangs in the NA3HL!

Skyler chose to go to Illinois State because, “it’s my hometown and ISU has both a strong education program and hockey program that’s really growing.” He plans on studying criminal justice while at ISU. Tompkins is looking forward to new experiences both on the ice and in the classroom.

When asked about his favorite coach, Skyler stated “Coach Tompkins, he doesn’t just coach hockey, he pushes me to be a better player and better person.” Skyler credits his biggest supporters is his parents because, “they’ve been by my side every step of the way– through the wins, losses, and a lot of long car rides.” The best hockey memory that Tompkins has had was bus trips with the Mustangs. Skyler’s biggest goal in his career was scoring the OT winner in his first AAA game.
