Nathan Galvan Commits to Illinois State University!

After building confidence and rediscovering his love for the game, Nathan Galvan is excited to officially announce his commitment to continue his hockey career while pursuing his education.

For Galvan, the decision came down to the opportunity to stay closer to home while also joining a program with a strong campus atmosphere and team culture. “Closer to home and a great campus environment” were two of the biggest reasons behind his commitment.

Off the ice, Galvan plans to study Sports Communication as he begins the next chapter of both his academic and athletic career.

One of the biggest influences throughout his journey has been Coach Palmeri, who helped him regain confidence in himself and in the game during an important point in his career. “He gave me back my confidence and love for the game.”

Galvan also credits his parents as his biggest supporters, recognizing the constant support they have provided throughout his hockey journey.

When reflecting on some of his favorite memories in hockey, one moment immediately stands out: defeating New Trier Green during his junior year of high school. He also says some of his favorite on-ice moments come from creating opportunities for his teammates. “Any assist to my linemates on Cougars” is something he takes pride in most.

As he looks ahead to the future, Galvan is especially excited about the relationships and culture that come with joining a new team. “I’m most looking forward to getting to know the guys and creating a brotherhood environment.”

Away from the rink, Galvan says he would choose to be a cougar if he could be any animal because of the speed and quickness associated with it; a fitting answer for a player eager to bring energy and excitement to his next team.

Supported by his parents and sisters, Vivian and Evelyn, Galvan now prepares for the next step in both hockey and life, ready to embrace everything that comes with continuing the game he loves at the collegiate level.
