Illinois State Hockey will have Representatives at Upcoming JOG Showcase

The JOG Showcase begins Friday April 26 at Fifth Third Arena in Chicago. ISU hockey has had representatives at the showcase since it started, and this year will be no different.

The showcase is not only a great way for current 18u players to get their name out there more, but it is also a great way for schools to promote their clubs.

“The JOG Showcase is an excellent recruiting tool for our organization because it allows us to connect with kids that could easily end up at ISU. It’s also amazing for the players as well, to be in front of so many schools is a great opportunity!” ISU Head Coach Chris Prewitt said.

Andrew Pape a coordinator for the Chicago Blackhawks Amateur Hockey Development spoke on how the rise of ACHA brings college hockey to a whole new group of players. “You still have the NCAA group and now you have ACHA which gives a whole different group of kids an opportunity,” Pape said.

ISU Head Coach Michael Hernbrott stressed the importance of this showcase for coaches especially when meeting some of the younger players who have not thought about their future too hard yet.

“This is a good opportunity for us to meet players that are a few years away from their college commitment,” Hernbrott said.

The showcase will run through the weekend and hopefully help younger players with the stressful decision of making a college decision.
