Transfer Alert! Illinois State Hockey Welcomes Cole Walter!

The Illinois State Redbirds welcome Cole Walter to the family!

Walter, a 5’11″ 176 lb. goalie is a Rochester, MN native. He will join the Redbirds in the 2024-25 season after playing 3 seasons for the Bradley Braves Division 2 team. During his time with the Braves, Walter accumulated 26 wins in net with a 0.917 save percentage.

Cole explained that he chose ISU because, “The opportunity to play hockey at a higher level for my final undergraduate year with my former juniors teammates.” He intends to major in kinesiology. Walter’s favorite coach is Steve Ortman during his time with the Peoria Mustangs. When asked who his biggest supporter was, Cole says it is his parents. Cole expressed his favorite hockey memory was winning state with the Chicago Fury against Mission.

Walter expressed that he is looking forward to furthering his education and winning a championship with the hockey team. Cole’s favorite food is sushi. Walter has 1 sibling: Laney. When asked what animal Cole would want to be, he said he would be a gorilla.

Walter will join former Peoria Mustangs teammates Michael Natoli, Tony Campise, Brendan Donovan, Jackson Gram, Ethan Chesney, Ryan Callahan, and Jaycob Bland as members of the Redbird family.
