ISU Hockey Welcomes Jackson Schaefer!

Illinois State Hockey welcomes Jackson Schaefer to the Redbird Family! The Sussex, WI native defensemen will be joining us for the 2025-26 season from the Minnesota Moose of the NA3HL!

Jackson chose to go to Illinois State because, “It’s a big school that has my intended major and I have the opportunity to play hockey.” He plans on studying exercise science while at ISU. Schaefer is looking forward to meeting new people and getting a great education at ISU.

When asked about his favorite coach, Jackson stated, “Todd Sanden because he gave me opportunities and believed in me even at times when I didn’t believe in myself.” Schaefer credits his biggest supporters is his parents. When asked about his biggest assist, Jackson said it was on the game winner in the second round of playoffs against the division champs in his second year in juniors. The best hockey memory that Schaefer has had was all the memories with the boys in the locker room.

If Jackson could be an animal, he would be a wolf because they are his favorite animal. His favorite food is pasta.
