ISU Hockey Welcomes Robin Kuusik!

Illinois State Hockey welcomes Robin Kuusik to the Redbird Family! The Palatine, IL native forward will be joining us for the 2025-26 season from the Florida Eels in the USPHL!

Robin chose to go to Illinois State because, “a great campus, good hockey and close to home.” He currently is undecided on what he will major in while at ISU. Kuusik is looking forward to meeting new people at ISU.

When asked about his favorite coach, Robin stated, “Coach Paul Maurice because of his funny interviews and he knows how to win.” Kuusik credits his biggest supporters is his parents. When asked about his biggest goal, Robin said it was from a game this past season when he returned from a 3-month injury to score the shootout winning goal. The best hockey memory that Kuusik has had playing on the outdoor rink in his neighborhood with his dad.

Some other fun facts about Robin Kuusik:

If Robin could be an animal, he would be a black bear because they know how to take care of their family while also being a machine. Kuusik has two siblings: a twin sister named Batrice, and an older sister named Britta. His favorite food is sweet potatoes.

Kuusik is the third member of the Florida Eels to sign with Redbird Hockey for the 2025-26 season including Blake Becker and Noah Van Herik! Robin also has former teammates from the Peoria Mustangs including Declan McDermott, Sam Truxaw, Jaycob Bland, Ethan Chesney, Kason Yamada and Eddie Peterson!
