Illinois State Hockey welcomes Lucca Weinkauf to the Redbird Family! The Plover, WI native forward will be joining us for the 2025-26 season from the West Bend Power in the NA3HL!
Lucca chose to go to Illinois State because, “I want to compete for a national championship and believe that ISU Hockey is headed in that direction. ISU is also close to home, and I really like the campus.” He intends to major in business while at ISU. Weinkauf is looking forward to getting back into the swing of things for school, making new friends and becoming part of a new hockey family.
When asked about his favorite coach, Lucca stated, “Rick Fleming, because he knew what it took to get the most out of his players.” Weinkauf credits his biggest supporter is his mom. When asked about his biggest goal, Lucca said it was scoring a goal and having an assist in a 2-1 state championship game victory. The best hockey memory that Weinkauf has had was making to the Fraiser Cup Championship game this past season with West Bend.

If Lucca could be an animal, he would be a cheetah because he thinks being the fastest animal in the world would be awesome. Weinkauf has two identical sisters: Vienne and Ava. His favorite food is burgers.
Weinkauf joins former teammate and current ISU Redbird, Connor O’Neal to join the Redbird Hockey family from the West Bend Power.
