Transfer Alert! Illinois State Hockey Welcomes Hunter Dotson!

Illinois State Redbirds Hockey would like to welcome Hunter Dotson to the family!

Dotson, a 5′11″ 180 lb. defensemen is a Bloomington, IL native. He joins the Redbirds from the University of Kansas. He last played for the Bloomington Thunder U18 team under Coach Chris Prewitt.

Hunter chose Illinois State because, “It’s my hometown and where hockey all started for me. There’s no place like home.” He intends to study finance and accounting.

When asked about his favorite coach, Dotson stated, “Dave Dimitri because he taught me everything I know, and I cannot thank him enough.” Hunter said his biggest supporters is his parents. “Growing up they did everything to make sure I succeeded.” When asked about his biggest goal/assist, Dotson stated, “Any assist to Michael Natoli is the best assist.” Hunter says that his favorite hockey memory is when he made his first AAA team in Chicago.

Dotson is looking forward to getting involved with the school and meeting the team. Hunter’s favorite foods are steak and chicken parm. If Hunter could be any animal, he would be a flying squirrel.

“I’ve had the luxury of coaching Dotson, and his defensive ability is top tier. We are looking forward to getting his calm and collected mindset on the ice next year. His AAA experience will set him up for a successful college career and I am looking forward to continuing to help him chase his potential.” – Coach Chris Prewitt

Dotson joins a slew of former teammates including Michael Natoli, Brendan Donovan, Brock Brandenburg and AJ Kowalczyk as a Redbird!
